My favorite restaurants in Colmar - My weekend in Alsace (2022)

Are you looking for a good restaurant inColmar? Good news, there are actually a lot!

To help you in making your choice, here is my selectionof good addresses. I don’t know if theyare the best restaurants inColmar (it is in fact very subjective), but these are addresses I would recommend to friends asking for advice.

I focused on French and Alsatian cuisine restaurants, because this is usually the type of food you would want to try when visiting Alsace. I haven’t yet listed starred restaurants, which are sort of “out of category”.

For lovers of organic food and for vegetarians, have a look at my article aboutorganic and vegetarian restaurants in Colmar.

This list is not fixed and will evolve with my new findings… There is no order between the restaurants of the list.

La Table du Brocanteur (French food)

My favorite restaurants in Colmar - My weekend in Alsace (1)

La Table du Brocanteur is an excellent address in Colmar. You will taste there French food, exclusively made from fresh and seasonal products. Everything is home made! At the head of the restaurant is a very friendly couple: Marc is cooking and Isabelle is at the service.

As its name suggests, the restaurant has a lot of different objects from left to right, which gives it a very homey feeling. This restaurant is definitely one of my favorite!

Remember to book at least one week in advance, as la Table du Brocanteur has a lot of success. I tried to go spontaneously, but there was never any space!

I liked

  • Excellent cuisine and generous portions
  • Homey decorations with a lot of different objects
  • Small quiet terrace
  • Extremely friendly welcome and services
  • A glass of liquor is offered at the end of the meal

I liked a little less

  • Nothing!

I am often quite picky when it comes to fish, but theirs is excellent: fresh and cooked to perfection. It was delicious!

Practical information

My bill

48,50€ for a starter, a main course, a dessert and a glass of wine. Everything is à la carte. At lunch, there is a 15€ menu.

Wistub Brenner (Alsatian food)

My favorite restaurants in Colmar - My weekend in Alsace (2)

The first time I went toWistub Brenner, I was18 years old and it was the first time I was going to Alsace. Since then, I grew up, I live inColmar and Wistub Brenner is a place where I bring my friends visiting Alsace, so they can taste good traditional Alsatian food. I was never disappointed!

You will be able to taste a good sauerkraut, bibalaskas, a tourte de la vallée or ham hock… numerous specialties from Alsace!

The philosophy ofDaniel Queille is: “Buying the best from the best and cook simple, but good food“. It really resonates with me!

I liked

  • Alsatian food with good products.
  • The location at the heart of Little Venice
  • The big rooftop in summer, the inside decoration
  • Warm service

I liked a little less

  • Nothing!

I love theirBibalaskas. On top of the traditionalfromage blanc and fried potatoes, there is smoked ham and munster. It’s simple, but delicious!

Practical information

My bill

28.40€ for a menu(starter, main course, dessert and coffee) / 24.20€ for a starter and a main/ 22.40€ for the main and dessert. It is available every day, lunch and dinner with the possibility of choosing between all mainsà la carte.I didn’t take any wine.

La Cour des Anges (French food with vegetarian and vegan options + tartes flambées)

My favorite restaurants in Colmar - My weekend in Alsace (3)

La Cour des Anges is exactly the kind of restaurant that I love: located right in the centre of Colmar, but still a little bit hidden, with a beautifully decorated room and a pleasant terrace and where, of course, we eat very well!

A la carte, homemade dishes, favouring organic and local products (producers are also proudly mentioned on the menu) and fitting for every kind of diet. Whether you are vegetarian, vegan or carnivore, you will find in this restaurant just the right dish for you. I found the food there absolutely delicious!

Even if most dishes don’t really fall into the “traditional Alsatian” category (which is also nice sometimes!), I recommend you to try the tartes flambées, with the homemade dough (it’s usually rare!) and the good quality filling.

I liked

  • Homemade, organic and local
  • Delicious dishes and a bit different from the usual restaurants of Colmar
  • Perfect for all kinds of diets!

I liked a little less

  • The vegetarian tarte flambée is a bit bland

Practical information

From what I remember, prices for a main are between 15 and 20€, but I need to check the next time I go…!

Jadis et Gourmande (Alsatian food)

My favorite restaurants in Colmar - My weekend in Alsace (4)

I have already told you aboutJadis et Gourmandein my article about thebest tea rooms in Colmar. It works as tea room in the afternoon, butJadis et Gourmande is also arestaurant open for lunch.

The place is very welcoming, with a bric-a-brac decoration and teddy bears all over the place. You will feel confortable straight away!

Food-wise, Jadis et Gourmandeoffers many traditional dishes, but they are a bit more unique than sauerkraut andbaeckeoffe, dishes that you can find everywhere. For example, you can try meat pie, fleischnakas, lawerknepfla… Most dishes have meat in them, but there are also a few vegetarian optionson the menu. Everything is very tasty and served in generous portions. Don’t forget to leave some space for dessert, because the pies are huge and wonderful(for me, they are the best inColmar) and thetorche aux marrons is also delicious.

The only negative thing could be the sometimes curt welcome from the owner. However, usually the service is friendly. Remember to book in advance: it is always full even in low season!

I liked

  • Tasty and copious dishes
  • Varied Alsatian food
  • Warm atmosphere

I liked a little less

  • Sometimes curt welcome

Practical information

Le Petit Bidon (French food)

My favorite restaurants in Colmar - My weekend in Alsace (5)

Therestaurant Le Petit Bidonis a very pleasant place to taste good French food, sometimes sprinkled with a few Alsatian touches. The menu is quite small and there are a few daily suggestions, which means that everything is fresh. Indeed, you can really feel it when tasting the delicious dishes! Many basic products are bought from local producers: cheese, vegetables or ice creams for example.

Decoration wise, all works very well with a very simple atmosphere and a few nice objects, such as big milk churns. Daily suggestions are actually written on one of these churns!

Moreover, the welcome and service are very friendly.

I liked

  • Very good cuisine
  • Pleasant decoration
  • Very friendly welcome and service

Located in the Little Venice of Colmar, the formerrestaurant Le Frichti’shas been replace by LeQuai 21. You’ll find a little bit of the atmosphere of the former restaurant, as well as seasonal and fine cuisine. After falling in love with the former restaurant, I must admit that I was charmed by the new one!

I absolutely love the daily menu, offered at lunch during the week. A starter, a main and a dessert of very good quality and changing daily are offered for 23€. You can have a look at the menu in advance on the Facebook page of the restaurant. It’s a delight, I can only recommend it to you!

L’épicurien, wine bistro (French food)

My favorite restaurants in Colmar - My weekend in Alsace (7)

L’épicurienis a wine bistro located at the heart of the Little Venice in Colmar. On the menu, you will find food made with fresh products, rather French, but which also leaves space for other inspirations. The choice is very difficult and everything is tempting!

The wine list is very impressive and L’épicurien also offers a few artisanal Alsatian beers. Beer lovers will be happy!

Finally, the atmosphere“wood, slates and wine bottle” of the decoration makes the restaurant very homey. Service is also very pleasant.

In summer,La Fleur de Sel has a very nice terrace on one of the docks of Little Venice. The welcome is very warm.

If you are looking for a good Japanese restaurant inColmaror even inAlsace, I might have what you are looking for!

I have tried a lot of Japanese restaurants in France, but Le Soleil Levantis definitely one of the best ones. It’s quite simple, I have never eaten before so delicious sushi.

The chef is actually from Japan. His name isYasuaki Sato and he is from Yokohama.

I liked
